With all the bickering and chuntering going on in the football sphere this morning, it’s an absolute pleasure to bring you a story that doesn’t involve someone harassing a referee or pretending to be snapped in twain.

After learning that a Roma fan had been seriously injured in a car accident in Sweden, club captain Francesco Totti went out of his way to write a personal “get well soon” message as well as tucking a special surprise gift inside the envelope for good measure.

The message reads:

Hi Alexander,

How are you? I hope this finds you well.

I heard about your accident and I’m very sorry about it but I’m sure everything will work out just fine.

Sometimes life puts obstacles in our way but this is when we find out our true strength, the one we even ignore having.

I’m sure it will be the same for you.

This is when we find out the importance of our dear ones, when we can rely on these moments.

Try to recover as quick as possible and keep on supporting us, because we need you behind us.

I look forward to seeing you at the Olimpico Stadium.

Ciao Alex!

Francesco.

How nice of him.

It’s also refreshing to be reminded that the sport isn’t entirely full of brattish little shitebags once in a while.
