We’ve covered football teams sponsored by bands in the past but now, what with Hull City’s big announcement this morning (more on that in mo’), Pies thought we’d have a look at other clubs that have forged high-rollin’ sponsorship deals with theme parks in the past – just to show Tigers fans that they’re not alone.

Let’s get the No.1 out of the way, shall we?

1. Hull City – Flamingo Land

The new kit in question isn’t due to be released until Monday, but still Hull felt that their illustrious new shirt sponsor deserved a teaser of its very own…

2. Scunthorpe United – Pleasure Island

And to think, Pleasure Island paid a pretty penny to have their logo streaked across the front of one of the most appalling football kits of all time…

3. Energie Cottbus – Tropical Islands

It doesn’t get much more tropical than north-eastern Germany…

4. Tamworth FC – Drayton Manor

With only a few miles between them, Drayton Manor’s logo is plastered all over Tamworth’s shirts…

5. Roda JC – Toverland

Looks like a hoot…

6. Valencia – Terra Mitica

Yep, we didn’t know it was a theme park either but there you go…

7. Orlando City – Disney World

Something something Mickey Mouse club something something…

8. Leeds United – Flamingo Land

We’re not entirely sure what the deal is between Leeds and Flamingo Land, but they seem to spend an awful lot of time there…

9. FC Martigues – Jurassic Park

What? Fictional theme parks are still theme parks…

10. Errr…

Efteling, the biggest theme park in the Netherlands, once struck a deal to become the “winter sponsors” of the Eredivisie, whatever that may mean…

Sorry, it all tailed off a bit at the end there. It would appear there isn’t a massive precedent for this kind of thing after all.

So, in summary: Hull’s new shirt is probably going to look pretty naff.

I didn’t know Terra Mitica was a theme park until it featured in an episode of “Benidorm” a few years ago.

Although Disney World is one of Orlando City’s sponsors it does not show up on their kit. “Orlando Health” a local hospital does. Cheers.
