Based on the leaked images they’ve seen in recent weeks, Footy Headlines have gone ahead and mocked up an image of what they expect Newcastle United’s new 125th anniversary shirt will look like.
With a strict monochrome design, narrowed stripes and a polo collar, the 2017/18 Toon jersey will hark back to a simpler, better time – a time when the front of their kits weren’t plastered with tacky adverts for loan sharks and leisurewear workhouses.
Here it be…
Once again produced by Puma, the anniversary kit will also be adorned with a special “toned down” club crest that will feature all the relevant numbers and dates underneath…
And the best bit? Footy Headlines reckon the new shirt will NOT feature the much-despised Wonga logo as the main sponsor, though it’s not known what it will be replaced by.
Honestly, they should just leave it plain – the Geordie stripes haven’t looked that good in 20 years – though, knowing Mike Ashley, it’ll probably have a huge advert for scratch cards and legal highs on the front of it by the start of next season.
