New Celtic Third Kit Officially Unveiled – Inspired By Marmite (Video & Photos)

By Chris Wright

Don’t tell the Danes, but Celtic’s new ‘international away kit’ (read: ‘third kit’) is a bit of a Marmite affair…

Scheduled to go on sale on June 16th, it’s certainly going to be a room-splitter when it’s eventually released into the wild.

Very bold. For what it’s worth, we like it – though admittedly it did take a few minutes for our retinas to settle after being wrestled into submission by Nike’s Doppler Effect template.

Pray tell, which side of the love it/hate it Marmite divide do you fall on?

  2. Conor O'Riordan says:

It’s definitely going to be a cult classic. Just like Tottenham’s bird shit kit or Chelsea’s ‘Silver and tangerine’. It’s also extremely shit, similar to said Chelsea and Spurs kits. But that’s part of the appeal I guess.

  3. MaxMad says:

Being Danish and all, I’m not getting the marmite joke mentioned in the beginning?
Or am I just being daft?

  4. VA Red says:

Being an American who knows what marmite is (tastes like shit btw) but didn’t know what the container looked like I was utterly confused. Thanks for clearing that up with the last pic of Ki. Oh and that kit looks worse than marmite tastes.

  5. Jamie Smith says:

Looks like a particularly bad keepers kit to me…

  6. Miau says:

    Piano.

That strip is the most disgusting thing I have ever seen. Poor Marmite!! that’s mega putting me off Marmite for good!!

  8. Lisa says:

    Thats an insult to Marmite

  9. logan says:

At least make the number and name on the back white.

  10. Nick says:

I actually don’t mind it. I also agree with the comment above – at least make the names white – they’re almost illegible!

    i love this site.com!

  12. wolfusa says:

design is awesome on the front, but the back should be plain yellow with black names and numbers. if that were so, i think the kit as a whole is great. the jacket is atrocious though.

  13. KevinW says:

It looks like the Barcelona shirt with the stripes oriented horizontally instead of vertically. Since it’s a third kit it isn’t that big of a deal, but it doesn’t look that great, and Barca’s is an embarrassment.

  14. Chris says:

@MaxMad: The Danish government have recently banned Marmite from being sold in the country as it apparently represents a ‘public health risk’.

  15. Radagast says:

Hmm… bumblebee or wasps? I love Marmite but this is just fugly! :/

  16. MaxMad says:

@Chris: Thanks for the clarification. I do recall the ban being issued, and it does taste like absolute shit.

  17. Kevin says:

give the kit to the Hornets

  18. Razif says:

Quite similar to Malaysia’s home kit

  19. Kolejorz says:

Inspired by a yellow and black piano key necktie…

  20. yun says:

uhhh, the doppler effect has nothing to do with your eyes, it has something to do with your ears and how you hear stuff. so that failed.

the kit’s meh. but still not everything yellow and black is marmite, you know. i’d be getting the N98 since the intrusive lines are colored nicely indeed.
