Norwich Launch New Errea Kit With Very ‘National Stereotype-y’ Promo (Video)

By Chris Wright

Norwich released their rather smart new 2011/12 Errea home kit t’other day, and chose to do so with a bout of good ol’ fashioned borderline racism.

Come on everybody, let’s play ‘count the national stereotypes’…

In case you haven’t gathered, Errea are in fact an Italian company.

  1. Rich says:

good to see some humour in kit advertising instead of the usual melodramatic “it’s more than a shirt, it’s a way of life” crap

    and very classy kit

  2. Dave says:

Hardly racist is it? Stereotypes are just a bit of fun if they are not abusive. I’m afraid you are just trying to make something of nothing! Lolz

  3. Dave says:

Kit is quite classy too, like it :)

  4. Other Dave says:

Someone’s missing the point. The advert is made by Errea, not Norwich City. They, as an Italian company, will have had full say over content and tone. I say well done to them for having a sense of humour. Good advert, nice kit.

  5. rich says:

did not see one bit of racism there

  6. Mik says:

‘borderline racism’ what planet are you on? That promo is a lighthearted celebration of italian culture.

I have no idea why you find that racist.

  7. Rich says:

    who’s using my name?!?!?

  8. jimbo says:

    political correctness gone mad again.

The (Italian) company Errea made the video not NCFC.

It should be obvious that its far to professional for a video a football club makes.

Trying to stir hatred when its just a bit of fun is really weak.

I guess this is the start of “hating” Norwich in the Premier League.

  9. usacanary says:

    i am a dull cock

  10. Justin says:

There is nothing on that video that is any more stereotypical than anything you will see in a pizza advert.

  11. Ryan says:

    Awesome.

  12. Greg says:

    What race are Italians again?…Stereotyping, yes…Racism, no…

  13. Markell says:

Hilarious, if tinged with a few STEREOTYPES, not racism. I loved it, very classy. And how about that kit? Errea have done well!

  14. Steve says:

    Racist???? You complete tool!

  15. Tom says:

Don’t take the advert literally, don’t take everything you read on the Internet literally. Unless your above comments are an ironic parody of Internet retards, but I doubt they are, not all of them anyway…

  16. Ade says:

Have you seen the latest advert for Ragu?

  17. John says:

First and last time I’ll visit this site if this article is an indication of its intelligence. What a load of twaddle! Great kit, even better launch video.

  18. wilf says:

Think the article says more about your lack of ideas when it comes to new posts, than it does about racism. Yawn. What to post tomorrow…..umm

  19. Tom Jones says:

Awful commercial for an awful kit.

  20. Kolejorz says:

If anything the commercial is guilty of making Norwich players look like idiots who can’t play football.

  21. James says:

it says to me “we look good in this horrific yellow kit, that we dont need to even play football anymore”

  22. Fat Nakago says:

Love the commercial. Love the kit. Love Grant Holt’s parting shot!!

  23. dreamteam says:

    Racist????????????

    Youre having a laugh.

Its just an amusing bit of fun, with the players poking fun at themselves.

    I like it.

  24. An NCFC fan says:

    1) The Italians are not a race.
    2) You could at best call it borderline xenophobia… but if you did you would be an idiot.
    3) The affection for Italy on show makes this a case of xenophilia, Italophilia specifically, with its affectionate display of the stereotypically finer things of Italian life.
    4) A negative display of the national Italian stereotype would have included Mobsters or Guidos (though they’re more Italian-American).

    I hope this helps,

    An NCFC fan.

  25. Ed says:

If it’s racist, what about the Dolmio adverts-surely they’re even worse?
You probably think “The Simpsons” is a race hate programme come to that!!
Cheapshot accusation made at the football club, missing the point (well made on here) that Errea, the Italisn sportswear company in question, wrote, produced, directed and filmed the promo!
The ad is gently funny and undemanding, poking fun at footballers in general as much as anyone or anything else.Decent, retro kit as well.

  26. Roger Green says:

It’s the only way this bloke (never heard of him before this rubbish)can get any response by making rank awful statements so the fans of that club (of which I am one) are pushed into giving a reply.
well heres mine…..you are a prick mate! get a proper job, something you are good at! like sweeping the roads………laughing stock!

  27. big mean bunny says:

Would it have been better if they had shown a Norwich fan going home taking his new Errea Norwich shirt off then getting in bed with his sister?…….
