Football GIF: Javier Manquillo Suffers ‘Whiplash’ After Bouncing Off Cristiano Ronaldo And Landing On His Neck

By Chris Wright

Real Madrid became the first side ever to reach the Copa Del Rey final without conceding a goal with a 2-0 second-leg victory over Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon last night, though Atleti’s teenage full-back Javier Manquillo probably won’t remember much of it.

Shortly before the break, Manquillo collided with Cristiano Ronaldo (who scored both Real’s goals from the penalty spot) in mid-air, spinning arse-over-tit and landing squarely on his neck. It wasn’t pretty, it wasn’t pretty at all…

Grim.

Manquillo soldiered on for a few minutes before being taken off at half-time, with reports suggesting that he was suffering from ‘whiplash-like’ pain.

Honestly, we can’t say we’re surprised.

Javier Manquillo ‘Whiplash’ after Bouncing Off Cristiano Ronaldo And Landing On His Neck could have been TRAGIC leaving an indelible mark on his family and in Ronaldo,s life. It was, beyond any reasonable doubt, a PURE ACCIDENT. I am a Real Madrid Supporter and I wish Javier Manquillo a quick and full recovery.

Technically I do not think that the incident warranted a Yellow Card. But I am convinced that the referee acted psychologically correct in the best interest of the match, the crowd and Ronaldo himself. Well done Ref.

I was watching this live and thought ouch! That could of been a lot worse than it was. Freak accident which could have brought the curtains down.

Hoping that the Athleti player makes a speedy recovery
