Barcelona Give Atletico Madrid Paltry Away Allocation Of Just 447 Seats For La Liga Title Showdown

By Chris Wright

Soccer - UEFA Champions League - Round of 16 - Second Leg - Barcelona v AC Milan - Nou Camp

All in the name of hijinkery, Barcelona have issued Atletico Madrid with a minuscule away ticket allocation for tomorrow’s winner-takes-all La Liga showdown at the Camp Nou.

According to the Daily Mail, despite Barca’s stadium having a maximum capacity of 90,000, the Catalan side have issued their title rivals with a paltry ticket allocation of just 447 seats in a bid to minimise any advantage Atletico may get from having a raucous travelling support behind them.

Four hundred and forty-seven. Slim margins and all that.

Why are you surprised?? That club is run by cheats and unethical pigs. It’s easy to be great when you bully UEFA.

  2. Bert says:

they’ll look like right tits if Atletico win and there’s only 447 people in the stadium celebrating.

  3. Slim Jim says:

Real Madrid might have the super egos, a few dirty, sneaky players and the self-important swagger of a bloke with 10 ton cajones etc. but at least they do their thing with a minimum of artifice. Barca’s pretty tiki-taka guff and the magical squeeky clean Messi are difficult pills to swallow on account of the club’s underhanded mendacity. The tragedy is that these things are allowed to happen and and maybe encouraged (or so I think when I’ve got my tinfoil hat on!)

I hope I’m not alone supporting Atleti tomorrow; let’s give them a great big Viva when they win!

‘More Than A Club’ indeed. Disgraceful. I really hope Atletico win.

“According to the Daily Mail” – less of this please.

    Capacity is allegedly nearer 99,000.

      – sources for articles do need to be stated. It’s not a hit to the Daily Mail, just stating the source.

  6. Wilma says:

There’s no real away following in Spain. You don’t usually get a great deal of away fans, so why take the most important game of the season to dilute the home support?

  7. Dont Worry says:

Wilma, how can you defend this…

  8. Craig David says:

Atletico’s last home match against Malaga they only allocated 100 tickets to the away fans. Of course Barcelona would seek to have any advantage they can, its their home game after all.

  9. fnarfio coentrao says:

Wouldn’t be surprised if you could still hear those few over all the Barca fans. Barcelona should make sure the sprinklers are ready.

  10. Matt Daug says:

JP, Ali, and all the other hypocritical trolls shouting about “Uefalona,” every single club in world football does this. If Arsenal, Chelsea, or any other club do this, it’s gamesmanship. Yet, if Barcelona limit away tickets, it’s blasphemous. Go cry and moan on your soapbox somewhere else, maybe try Xanga or MySpace?

  11. Jez says:

Wilma makes a good point to be fair. Their isn’t really an ‘away-day’ culture in Spain like there is over here. No doubt given the context of the game, Atleti would have filled out a much higher allocation, but is this really anything out of the ordinary for the Spanish league?

  12. Vamos Atleti says:

Here is the scale of the difference between home support and away support. I see that almost the same amount of Atleti fans than when I saw Barca play Zaragoza a few years ago. It’s a shame.

This isn’t unusual. Away allocations are always very small. For the CL quarter final at the Vicente Calderon Barça only got 3,000 tickets. Yes, more than 500, but still not in the thousands supporters of England teams expect.

As Wilma says, there isn’t the culture of away support in La Liga as there is here. Very few fans travel.
