Slightly puzzling, granted, but Granada midfielder Javi Marquez has gone and named his newborn son after one of his La Liga counterparts.
The sprog turned up on Thursday morning and Marquez decided there and then to name him after a Real Madrid star – though perhaps not one of the more obvious candidates.
Eschewing the more traditional monikers of Cristiano, Karim, James and Gareth, the 29-year-old former Espanyol man went and called his little bundle of joy ‘Modric’.
Yep.
Granada tweeted their congratulations to their No.8 before welcoming little baby Modric Marquez into the world…
