Modern Football Is Rubbish: Sponsors Ensure Carabao Cup Third-Round Draw Will Be Just As Nonsensical As First Two…

It’s fair to say that the League Cup, in it’s inaugural season in the hands of new sponsors Carabao, has been nothing short of a farce – particularly on the administrative side of things.

Of course, the draw for the first round was conducted in Thailand and ultimately saw Charlton Atheltic given the nigh-on impossible task of having to play both away against Exeter City and home to Cheltenham Town simultaneously…

The kinks were addressed in time for the second-round draw earlier this month, with a brand new system using coloured balls employed to avoid any further confusion.

Unfortunately, John Salako proved to be the rogue variable that the draw organisers were unable to account for…

The upshot being that several ties came out ‘backwards’, with the home teams listed as away teams and vice-versa, before being amended.

And so, onto the next round of fun and frolics – and fear ye not, for Carabao have ensured that the customary nonsense we’ve come to expect will be prevalent.

Indeed, the League Cup sponsors have announced today that the draw for the third round of the Carabao Cup will be conducted live in China on Thursday 24th August.

The only minor issue is that it will begin at 11:15am local time, which equates to 4:15am BST…

The EFL are keen to inform us that fans can follow the draw live on their official Carabao Cup Twitter feed, assuming that you’re willing to get up at sparrow fart in the morning to keep tabs on it for some insane reason.

A triumph, we’re sure you’d agree?
