Not that he’s contributed much more than diddly squat over the past few years, but Jimmy Bullard has announced his retirement from football at the age of 33 today.

Bullard was playing for the MK Dons after signing a short-term deal in the summer, but has called time on his relatively short career after a specialist told him he looked far too much like Sally Gunnell for his own good his knees could give way permanently at any time.

Here’s a look back at why we all have a soft spot in our hearts for the little bugger…

Track 1: ‘Leap of Faith’

Track 2: ‘I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Out Of My Hair’

Track 3: ‘Germany Calling’

Track 4: ‘Don’t Turn Around’

Track 5: ‘Love Me, Love My Dog’

Track 6: ‘Wake Up And Make Love To [My Badger]’

Track 7: ‘The Circle’

Track 8: ‘The Laughing Gnome’

Track 9: ‘Nothing To Fear (Except Duncan Ferguson)’

Track 10: ‘Living In A Box’

Track 11: ‘Rock, Paper, Scissors’

Farewell Jimmy, you absolute conker box! A decent player on his day, though sadly Bullard’s reputation has been besmirched over the course of the last few years by his penchant for leeching huge wages from gullible Championship clubs while managing three or four games a season in return.

We imagine a whole shite-load of carp fishing is next on the agenda…

  1. Joe says:

Some Fulham fans don’t like him, but I’ll always remember him with a smile for his role in keeping us up in 2008 and the 5m he somehow netted us as a 30-year-old permacrock when he buggered off to the KC & The Sunshine Band Stadium. Godspeed, Jimmy. Those carp are bricking themselves.

  2. Mr. Chopper says:

Bullard’s one of those players that doesn’t even need to play. You just have him around the team for morale. He should flit between the teams at the bottom of the Prem come SBT, spreading a little Jimmy into all their little hearts.

  3. Anonymous says:

legend. hope he becomes a pundit.

  4. Degs says:

Met him at the dog racing one night during one of his many injury lay-offs.
One of the nicest and most unassuming people I’ve ever met.

I’m sure he’ll end up on Soccer Saturday and can see him indulging in many an intellectual debate with Mr Merson.

And he had a brilliant 50s throwback name too!

    All the best, Jimmy.
