Alas, it was little more than an empty consolation in the end as Germany held on to win 3-2, but we still find immense joy in watching Philippe Albert (latterly of Newcastle United and then even latterly-er of the Belgian fruit and veg import/export trade) threading the needle with surgical precision before popping it calmly past Bodo Illgner in the 90th minute of Belgium’s second round tie at USA ’94…
