    actually WM stands for Welt Meisterschaft = World Competition/Cup

    WM in the german logo stands for Welt Meisterschaft. Mannschaft means team

    actually its Weltmeisterschaft. We Germans like long words. Like Elfmeterschießen (penalty shootout) or Abseitsfalle (offside trap)
