  1. Joe says:

    Loving the Tevez shot… Durrrrrrrr

  2. Andy says:

    MASCHERANO !!!!!!
how could you possibly miss him ?

  3. Giorgio Chiellini! Simply a butcher!

And also Mark Van Bommel, quite always booked

  4. Louwrens says:

Not too sure about Mokoena, I think Booth, Sibaya and possibly even Letsholonyane are harder

  5. PR says:

    HELLO!!! Mary Shelley’s FRANCK RIBERY!!!!

  6. anonymous says:

Evra is also the size of a tree elf.

  7. Ollie says:

Ah, but Evra is around 5ft9 – not as short as he looks.

  8. Chris says:

@PR: Ribery is merely hard to look at.

  9. Davy says:

So Daniel Alves plays for the country known as Barcelona?!?

  10. Davy says:

And Tim Cahill Everton…..yep I’m a clever shoite

  11. dbex says:

Bocanegra?! I like Boca, but if you’re going to pick someone from USA, I’d go with Onyewu (huge and ripped), Demerit (scrapper), Bradley (super-intense and physical) and Clark (just plain reckless) first.

  12. Pepe says:

yeah Clark is the guy you don’t want to mess with on the USMNT

  13. Main Man U Fan says:

KP Boateng: As hard as a baby.
    A. Mokoena: Now see above.
    P. Evra: Again, just see above.

    How can you miss
    Javier Mascherano: Lunatic
    Giorgio Chiellini: Huge
    Douglas Maicon: Huge

  14. java says:

    Gokhan Inler!?

  15. Kolo says:

I think Sergio Ramos is missing – he’s a tank at right back, ripped, strong and tough as nails, never seen him on the pitch agonising after a foul commited on him, doesn’t take prisoners whilst either tackling or battling it in the air; a battering ram on offense, basically gets where he wants to go with the ball.

  16. Gav says:

Johnny Heitinga, he’s savage and a proper lad

  17. Thomas says:

Kinda surprised to see Dani Alves on there…and not Drogba. I have too many views of Alves diving in the box like a wet noodle to remember the times where he’s tough. Drogba might play with a broken arm if cleared…that’s quite a long step in the badass/tough direction.

  18. Tedd says:

I would go with Rico Clark. He’ll kick you in the face if you get on his bad side.

  19. Nick says:

You definitely missed Italy’s DeRossi. He’s the new enforcer in that camp.

  20. the cannon says:

you left out oguchi onyewu, alex song, and sthephane mbia

  21. the cannon says:

    oh yea and chiellini

  22. spectator says:

if you removed his hair, puyol would look exactly like ted from scrubs.

teves looks like jack nicholson at the end of ‘one flew over the cuckoo’s nest’

and skrtel does look like a bond villain henchman, specifically the one that wants to poke around in bond’s joy department with a set of oriental torture instruments.

  23. Eboue says:

Diego Lugano of Uraguay. Mad as a bag of spiders

  24. Zedie says:

Dider Drogba? Hardman? More like thespian man child…..

  25. syndex says:

dutch team look tasty they have also got ooijer who is a nutter and they did’t even bother sending their arch psyco witsel

  26. Anonymous says:

    Vinnie Grella, absolute nutter

  27. Ste says:

Mark van Bommel, as said. Most hated player in Bundesliga outside Munich. Smart and mean, contract killer-quality.

  29. Michael Chin of Malaysia says:

    Michael Essien !!

  30. bill usa says:

    Liverpool’s Greek defender Kyrgiakos: http://img.skysports.com/09/09/218×298/Sotirios-Kyrgiakos-Liverpool-Premier-League-P_2356283.jpg

makes uruguay’s defenders look like little barbies..

  31. Aldo says:

    Aaron Lennon ……. He’s well ‘ard !!!

  32. Jason says:

A bit biased towards well-known footballers who play in Europe in my opinion. What about South Korean toughman Cha Du Ri?

  33. Ruperto says:

    Cuauhtemoc Blanco

  34. Leonardo says:

Ivanovic is surely missing. Pepe is not a hard man.

  35. Sumeet says:

    Ivory’s lunatic Didier Drogba

  36. Gustavo says:

I think you should change the title of the post to “Top 25 Hard and UGLY Man At The 2010 World Cup”

  37. Greg says:

    Lucio’s eyebrows should be #26 and #27.

  38. Ste says:

@Jason: Cha Du Ri is more german than korean. born in Germany (Father is korean and Bundesliga-legend Cha Bum-Kun) and as far as I know he still plays over here in Frankfurt.

  39. razz says:

    Felipe MelO!

  40. Omri says:

    Jonas Gutierez (Argentina) is HUGE

  41. Tom says:

    Muntari

  42. Ami99 says:

You missed Van Bommel. Gattuso is right on.
Puyol should not have been there. He looks hard metal and all stuff but have you ever read about his personality before compiling the article

  43. Joni says:

You definetly missed Manuel Neuer, German GK. I know he looks like a goddamned baby and all, but that kid is 194 cm tall, weighs in at 91 kilograms, and has upper legs like Roberto Carlos. And in the local Derby of his club Schalke 04 vs. arch-enemies Borussia Dortmund, he usually goes kicking and strangling opposition players, ’cause he hates them so much, being a Schalke member since age 4.
