The Premier League Team Of The Season … So Far
By Ollie Irish
With the Premier League season now into its second half, it’s time to pause, cogitate and deliberate on the Prem team of the season so far. In a 4-5-1 formation, this is our selection of star performers – there is no Fabregas, no Gerrard, no Lampard, no Drogba, no Titus Bramble. And that’s mighty refreshing. Feel free to offer up your own XIs, of course…
Joe Hart (Man City) - We've quickly become used to Hart's excellence and solidity, but that shouldn't detract from his routinely brilliant displays for City thus far in 2010-11. He's been something of a clean-sheet machine and is clearly developing into a world-class No.1.

Vidic is only good because most refs go blind the second he goes in for the ball
Well, he’s not only good because of that. He’s brilliant in his own right, but I know what you mean: he does get an easy ride from refs.
Generally agreed throughout, although I personally think both Cheik Tiote and media darling Joey Barton have had a better season so far than Scott Parker – fair enough Barton’s indefensible stupidity on occasion makes him easily overlooked.
Sagna has been so consistent at right back so far this season and el mohammady plays right mid more often than right back
I think Rafael might be wroth a shout at right back, when he’s played there in most cases he puts in an exceptional performance, case in point the way he shut down Bale and forced him onto his right when spurs came to Old Trafford
No Carlos Tevez? Or… even… that tall red fuck from the swamps of Stretford?
Good list, but as BettySwollocks said, El Mohammady most often plays on the right of the midfield, not defense, so I think Sagna should pip him to that place. Sagna’s been very consistent this season, has looked more threatening in the final third, and finally scored a goal since forever!
Yep, I did mention El-Mo’s versatility, but I wanted to find a place for him and RB was the obvious home. I guess I just haven’t seen enough of Sagna this season.

Yeah, I would agree that Sagna has been the best right-back in the league this season. He’s been a consistent and dependable player in an albeit shaky defence.
Sorry to hear you haven’t seen enough of his performances this season Ollie, thought that was your job.
rafa da silva – RB
Gotta be Sagna at right back.
I’d have Toure instead of Kompany as the pick of a very impressive City pairing; otherwise it’s a good team. Nasri’s been my player of the season so far, and I’m speaking as a Spurs fan.
Sagna has been very solid this season. Rafael has been inconsistent and makes too many mistakes. No way he has been best RB.
Sorry what glaring errors has he made this season? It’s media bull spawned from the bayern sending off which makes people buy this ‘inconsistent’ tag, even when he is not that consistent it is understandable – he is only 20
Yeah you clearly don’t watch MU games. Rafael is absolutely brillant.
Sagna is solid at best.
Just a piece of advice : watch Stoke-MU from yesterday. And then come back ..
Ollie for England. and i’m not talking about you Irish
I agree With Chrissy, although I like Parker, but he is only shone this season because the rest of West Ham are..well crap. Tiote and Barton for me deserve a place in there, they have been spot on.
where’s luka modric, paul scholes, and that other dude. peter crouch, and raul mereiles.
What a load of bollox.
Foster by FAR the best keeper this season in the prem.
Right back should be Rafael or Seamus Coleman
Carlos Tevez has been the best striker this season
my First Half of the Season Team is as follows;
Hart
Sagna Cahill Vidic Baines
Nani Tiote Nasri Bale
Tevez Carroll
For the most part a very good team…But the Right Back spot is debatable
Maybe it’s cause I’m a biased American but Stew Holden has been awful good for Bolton this year. I go for him over Parker.
Quite annoying having to click through the whole thing to remember the team
My Team for the Season so far!
Joe Hart
Rafael Kompany Vidic Baines
Nani Song Nasri Bale
Berbatov Tevez
Subs: Foster, Sagna, Dawson, Coleman, Parker, Welbeck, Chamahk
There’s no one in that midfield who can put long balls onto Andy Carrols head so he will be pretty useless.
Whats with the sagna love fest, he hasnt been that good, plus he just headbutted zabaleta, with discipline he doesnt deserve to be in any ‘best team’ list.
Vidic man… all day
Rafael at Right back
Elmander up front
The cheeky Bulgarian should have made this list, as lazy as Berbatov is hes made some amazing shots this year
Sagna all day.
Seamus Coleman should be RB
Ian Holloway by far the best manager this season , although as a Scot ,i lean more towards David Moynes or Owen Coyle, as both have done great with little funds.
I agree with the above team so far. Just that this team need to have a good sud: (Luka M, Peter C, Asly C, David S, Carlos T, Tiote, Sagna B, and McEachran J)
amazing looking at this list only a month after
could easily say Hart won’t be in the team of the year come the end of the season
and others too obv
