For the record, Pies may be a bit on the quiet side today thanks to crippling bout of prawn-induced food poisoning.

Don’t have the seafood.

Former teammates of Dean Richards (left to right) Ledley King, Claus Lundekvam, Matt Murray and Bradford City chairman Mark Lawn hold the late defender’s name aloft in tribute before two of his former sides squared off in the Premier league. Perhaps fittingly, the game finished in a 3-3 draw.

Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt wheels away in celebration after completing his hat-trick against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon. The Dutchman’s triple was enough to see Kenny Dalglish’s side triumph 3-1 over their arch-rivals, leaving United just three points clear at the top of the Premier League with Arsenal (who still have a game-in-hand) breathing down their necks.

Liverpool’s £35 million-man Andy Carroll makes his debut for the club, coming on as a 75th-minute substitute after signing over a month ago.

Birmingham City pair Stephen Carr and Alex McLeish take the Carling Cup on a lap of honour around St Andrews, a day after losing 3-1 at home to local rivals West Brom.

Wigan keeper Ali Al Habsi looks on helplessly after allowing David Silva’s tame effort to squirm through his legs, thus handing Man City the only goal of the game.

Newcastle fans opt for the ‘all-in-one-body-stocking’ approach as they watched (if you can actually see anything through those things!) their side fall 2-1 at home to Everton.

Arsenal’s Andrey Arshavin rounds Sunderland keeper Simon Mignolet and rolls into an empty net only to see his goal wrongly disallowed for offside. The two sides played out a goalless draw with Arsene Wenger left ‘disgusted’ by several of the referee’s decisions.

After six months out with a broken leg, Bobby Zamora returned to the Fulham first-string and marked the occasion by grabbing his side’s winning goal (from the spot, after another stint of decidedly dodgy officiating by a certain Mr M. Clattenburg) in their last-gasp 3-2 win over Blackburn at Craven Cottage.

Jussi Jaaskelainen’s mind games were enough to psyche out Ashley Young, who planted his penalty into the Bolton keeper’s legs after a bit of goal-line jiggery-pokey. The Trotter’s beat relegation-threatened Villa 3-2 thanks to Gary Cahill’s brace and Ivan Klasnic’s late winner.

Thomas  Hitzlsperger rifles home West Ham’s third and final goal in their 3-0 win over Stoke at Upton Park. Two home wins in the space of a week have seen the Hammers haul themselves off the bottom of the Premier League and out of the relegation zone.

did anyone read one of the papers before the liverpool v manure match?
carrick was saying that referees need to get it right!??!!
what the fuck was that all about!???
if referees did their job and got it right every week manure united would not be top of the league! its people like howard webb and mark clattenburg that brought united to the top of the league…. cheating scum… so carrick needs to think about that!!!

  5. Ted Balls says:

Is it just digital inconsistency, or is there a small piece missing out of Bobby Zamora’s head?

(though there’s quite clearly a sizeable chunk missing out of Mr. Angry’s head there…)
