Dalglish Unimpressed By Rooney Appeal, Brands FA Dithering Over Suarez ‘A Joke’

While UEFA’s decision to reduce Wayne Rooney’s ban to two matches for next summer’s EURO 2012 finals has been generally welcomed by England fans, Liverpool’s Scottish boss Kenny Dalglish has a slightly different take on the story.

At his weekly press conference, the Anfield legend questioned The FA’s decision to appeal the original ban, saying: “I find it a bit strange the FA are supposed to be setting an example for things yet they appeal against Wayne Rooney’s ban. I don’t think it’s a good example to set.”

Dalglish then turned his attention to The FA’s handling of the Luis Suarez alleged racism issue.

“The fact it has taken nine weeks to get a decision on one of the other charges is a bit of a joke as well,” said the Scot. “I don’t think that has helped as well. The circus which is around about him has been caused mainly by that.”

At the press conference, Liverpool somewhat bizarrely had set up a TV screen which showed the journalists present video footage of Suarez being fouled by Fulham players in Monday night’s game, in order to provide some background to the Uruguayan’s now infamous hand gesture, which has seen the striker charged by The FA.

“The people at Liverpool and anyone who has any leaning to the club – be it staff, players, supporters – they will stand by him and they know what the truth is, ” said Dalglish, “Anyone wants to see the truth from the other night it is on the screen.”

Move over AVB and Chelsea, you’ve another rival for the title of most persecuted club of the season.

  2. kenji says:

FA is an idiot organisation thats help only english player. Foreigner you had to eat yourself. beware of the FA Dogs…i still waiting fot John Terry any punishment from FA. Until now, NO! biased. Bakayaro!

  3. Degs says:

Kenny is right about the FA’s appeal though.

If a player had been sent off in the Premier League for violent conduct, and the club appealed, the FA would class it as ‘frivolous’ and ban them for an extra game.

Still, the FA have never been anything other than hypocritical.

  4. Fletch says:

Christ, Dogleash is a moaning cunt. Every week hes complaining about something.
Why doesnt he stick to what he knows . . . buying overpriced players and running a club into the ground.

  5. Rob says:

    Fletch,
I’ll agree Carroll was way overpriced, but how is he running the club into the ground?

  6. AJM says:

^Think that was a dig at what happened with Blackburn during/after his reign and what could potentially happen to Liverpool now.

  7. Charlie Adam says:

Alan Duffy’s articles are really dull and childish.

  8. frank says:

Kenny has a point, they are just completely inconsistent/hypocritical… Rooney swears into a camera – gets a ban, fair play, probably the right decision. But that was nowhere near as bad as when Rooney kicks an opponent, so he gets an acceptable ban from uefa, but wait the F.A think…. Oh no it was playing for England, APPEAL NOW!!!

  9. BallsDeep says:

The panel of soccer saturday and motd (ex players) should be running football in the UK. The bunch of tw*ts running it now, the majority of them have never played the game at the highest level and probably know f-all about the game.

  10. jimbo says:

There is no point in giving Rooney a two match he wii probably get sent off in the group stages and let the team down a lack of common sense comes to mind a good defender could wind him up no problem. Again this proves that the FA have double standards and it blows the Respect campaign straight out of the water.

  11. Redskywalker says:

    Lol people backing Kenny!

    Dalglish is a collosal moron

  12. Fletch says:

    @ballsdeep…

i wouldnt say that soccer saturday/motd pundits know anymore about football than the muppets in charge now.

doesnt matter about the level they’ve played at, most pundits seem to have got the job based who can have the most inane, obvious opinion.
its a case of empty vessels making the most noise.

  13. Fletch says:

    @ Rob/AJM

i didnt mean he was running liverpool into the ground. Give him time though.

it was aimed at his time at newcastle mainly.

  14. Stewart says:

Ballsdeep. I don’t think there is any room whatsoever within our beautiful game for anyone who defends pundits.

For all of us who have sat half-steamed on the sofa in an empty living room and made a really, really clever and insightful comment and NOT been paid for it – while on screen pin-heads chuckle as they check out their bank balances it’s beyond a joke. That’s what the FA and FIFA and infact the EU should be addressing.

    I’m not bitter.

  15. BallsDeep says:

@Fletch and Stewart -Very true.. but then who should we have in charge of our beautiful game? Us..It should be us. Balls Deep head of FIFA. But let’s be honest, are there any leaders in today’s power elite who are not corrupt and not able to manage without making massive balls up.

  16. Jay says:

Kinda agree with him here :/

Rooney got 3 games from the FA for celbrating, and the camera picking up on him swearing!

Then he kicks someone and the FA back him to the hilt? Make your mind up!

ooo and PS Dalglish with the tv screen showing Suarez getting kicked, reminded me of Rafa’s rant!!!! Getting kicked in a game of football is no excuse for sticking your finger up at the opposition crowd! DICK!

  17. Al says:

@Jay, how is he a dick? he was taking abuse for a full 90 minutes from idiotic Fulham fans who don’t appreciate a good player when they see one probably because they’ve never had any. I think sticking his finger up at them is hardly the crime of the century. He is one of the most fouled players in the league and dives no more than any other top striker (they’re all at it) so chants of cheat just showed the Fulham fans up for the bell ends that they are.

  18. Al says:

It’s a complete double standard, what punishment did the FA give Beckham when he stuck his fingers up at his OWN supporters during the Euro’s against Portugal? Nothing I reckon

  19. mcrico says:

Suarez should be ban for 6 months easy. He is a terrible example to kids of professionalism. Not only is he racist and disrepectful but he dives, spits and winges like a fairy.

Suarez = The biggest CHEAT in the modern Game.
