Quote of the day:

“Part of playing for Liverpool is having big character and that is what we need at the moment. Between now and the end of May it has got to be a grind at times but we have got to stick together, get through it and, as I am doing every night, pray to God that at the end of the season there will be something worth what we have gone through at times, because it has been tough.

“I pray to God we win the FA Cup or the Europa League and we get in the top four, dust ourselves down at the end of the season and say ‘It hasn’t been so bad in the end’, but at this moment it is tough.”

Jamie Carragher has a word with the man upstairs.

Just to clear up any confusion, I think Carra means this beardy fella:

michelangelo-god

… Not this fella:

robbie-fowler

I could be wrong. Wouldn’t be the first time.

Carra would be better off being more specific though: “Dear God, can you please turn Andriy Voronin into world-class striker?”

Something like that might work.

I’m decidedly pro prayer – studies show that moments of calmness, relaxed breathing, and positive thinking can help even the healthiest of people.

But, um, you have a God-give brain and legs that also need some serious work.

I think that’s a little bit past the big man’s capabilities personally

    That Voronin thing was hilarious!
Who knows, a lot of people might pray for that.

praying to robbie might help more than god, gotta say.

  5. Ben says:

The mental image of Jamie Carragher kneeling bedside praying for a Europa League win is probably the funniest thing I’ve seen all day. I love the idea of God (if he/she/it existed) saying, “ok, I was going to sort out the middle east and AIDS this summer, but since you asked nicely Jamie, have the FA Cup on me”…

  6. Chringle says:

Is Liverpools paper thin squad and 2 months of squalid football now the fault of the celestial sphere? Surely the penny has to drop with the scousers soon.

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher resorts to ‘praying to God’…
