Liverpool 0-2 Chelsea – Premier League – 27th April 2014
Say what you like about Jose Mourinho (and we all have a lot to say about him, don’t we!), but the Chelsea boss is a tactical master with his Blues’s side once again getting the requisite result at Anfield on Sunday.
Demba Ba opened the scoring on half-time after a costly slip from Steven Gerrard of all people while Willian made it 2-0 at the death. Throughout the game the Reds, despite having the lion’s share of possession, struggled to find a way past Chelsea’s well-drilled defence while the Blues also frustrated the home side with their constant time-wasting. However, ultimately it was the visitors who would score the goals and wint he game as Brendan Rodgers’ side floundered against the wall of Blue in front of the Chelsea goal.
The defeat, Liverpool’s first in 12 league games, sees Chelsea go two points behind the Reds, with Man City now in the driving seat for title glory. What a day!
