Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea – Carling Cup Semi-Final First Leg – 20th January 2015
A superb solo goal from Raheem Sterling secured a draw for Liverpool against Chelsea on Tuesday.
The Blues took lead courtesy of an Eden hazard spot-kick on 18 minutes after the Belgian winger had been felled by Emre Can. However, it was the Reds who created most of the chances in this game, and finally, the equaliser did come on the hour-mark, when Sterling evaded the Chelsea backline to fire home a fine individual effort. With the scores level, the hosts looked the more likely side to score and Steven Gerrard went close when his effort came back off the post. Ultimately, however, the Blues held on to set up an intriguing return leg at Stamford Bridge.
