Sunday saw Jurgen Klopp finally suffer his first defeat as Liverpool manager, with the Reds going down 2-1 at Anfield to a vibrant Crystal Palace side.

Alan Pardew’s side started superbly against a Liverpool side who looked leggy after their midweek Europa League jaunt to Russia.

After a prolonged period of pressure, the goal eventually came for the hosts, with Yannick Bolasie firing past Simon Mignolet after the visitors had failed to clear a ball into the box.

The goal seemed to wake up the Reds, with Jordan Ibe and Christian Benteke threatening to level the scores.

The equaliser did eventually come for Klopp’s charges just before the break, with in-form schemer Philippe Coutinho curling home from inside the box.

In the second period, the Merseysiders enjoyed far more possession. However, with Bolasie and Wilfried Zaha, the Eagles were always a threat on the break.

Benteke again went close with a header, but the visitors struggled to create enough decent chances.

Then on 82 minutes, Liverpool-born Scott Dann headed home the winner from a corner after Mignolet had saved the defender’s first effort.

There was still time for Coutinho to see a goal-bound effort saved superbly by Wayne Hennessey.

However, the game would end in defeat for Klopp and co.

Liverpool now find themselves in 10th in the table. As for Palace, they go eighth.
