Michael Owen has more than his fair share of detractors, with his charisma-free BT Sport punditry irking the bejaysus out of football fans the length and breadth of the country.

However, the former England striker sank to new depths on the day Dutch master Johan Cruyff passed away.

In a cheap and cynical click-bait operation, Owen tweeted a link to his Sportlobster article with a teaser concerning his recent meeting with Cruyff. The gormless buffoon even managed to spell the Dutch icon’s name wrong.

Appalling stuff…

Owen’s former club Liverpool didn’t cover themselves in glory either today, making the death of the Dutch icon all about them…

Overall, all rather tasteless!

    More twat-foolery from that cunt

  2. Tony says:

How is Liverpool displaying a positive quote that Cruyff made about their club disrespectful to Cruyff?

  3. Ok says:

How is that disrespectful from Liverpool? Obviously a bitter man utd fan write this article… Disgusting.

You only have to look at the replies to the LFC tweet to know that it is in poor taste. Not just United fans, West Ham, Everton, Arsenal, and yes, even Liverpool fans. In essence, that tweet made it LFC first, Cruyff second. And that is disrespectful.

I concur. You wonder who is employed, and indeed is in charge of the PR (or whatever you call the online side of things with team relations to their fans).

I am a United fan, but I would be equally appalled if such a tweet came from us.

As for Mr. Owen, well he just becomes more Partridge by the day.

Perhaps not disrespectful but absolutely in poor taste, only they could try to turn a very sad event into a plus on themselves. It’s all about them nothing else matters to this deluded club. No class whatsoever you only have to look the way Heysel is never mentioned by them to confirm this.

Oh Dave, you are a twat!!!!

    • Bryan says:

      Thanks for chiming in, Dave.

      • Andy says:

I actually remember the first time I heard about Heysel from reading the Fever Pitch book a good 15 years into my football watching life and actually couldn’t believe I had never heard of it before. Now that I know what the word means, it pops every every once in a while, but never talked about and I still can’t believe how little is gets mentioned in comparison and still find it odd they never bring it up.

    You’re welcome.
