Liverpool were knocked out of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, with the Reds beaten 2-0 at the King Power Stadium.

The visitors were the better side in the first-half, with Philippe Coutinho impressing in midfield and Andrew Robertson a danger on the left flank.

However, Jurgen Klopp’s charges were blunt in attack, with Dominic Solanke and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, in his first start for the Merseysiders, failing to make the most of decent chances.

Leicester’s opening goal came just after the hour-mark, with sub Shinji Okazaki firing into the corner of Danny Ward’s goal.

On 78 minutes, things got even better for the Foxes when Islam Slimani netted via a magnificent solo effort.

Leicester would run out 2-0 winners and progress to the next round, and will no doubt be full of confidence ahead of Liverpool’s visit in the league at the weekend.

Adrien Silva, who famously missed out on a transfer to Leicester on deadline day, watched the Foxes’ win from the stands, with the Portuguese star still expected to ultimately make the move to the King Power.

As for the Reds, despite having the lion’s share of possession, the lack of a cutting-edge up front coupled with a defensive frailty cost them dear yet again.

Could this be the season when the pressure really starts to mount on Klopp?
