Liverpool put their recent run of underwhelming domestic results to one side on Tuesday night, with the Reds thrashing NK Maribor 7-0 in the Champions League to go top of Group E.

The Merseysiders got off to a flyer, with Roberto Firmino scoring within just four minutes after good work from Mohamed Salah.

Soon after, Philippe Coutinho made it 2-0, firing home from a James Milner pull-back.

The lively Salah then bagged a brace to make it 4-0 at the break, with the first coming on 19 minutes.

And the second on 39 minutes.

The goalfest continued in the second-half, as Jurgen Klopp’s charges totally dominated proceedings.

Firmino got his second of the game on 54 minutes, heading home from a Coutinho free-kick.

Late on, summer-signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain finally got off the mark for the Reds, via an assist from Daniel Sturridge.

There was still time for Trent Alexander-Arnold to get on the scoresheet, with the full-back’s long-range strike deflecting in.

The result was Liverpool’s first win of this season’s Champions League campaign, and was fully deserved against a weak Slovenian opposition.

The Reds go top of Group E, with Klopp no doubt hoping the thumping victory can kickstart his side’s domestic league campaign.

It would honestly be pathetic if Liverpool couldn’t win that group. Sevilla is far and away their biggest competition there, and they seem more interested in the league table than Europe.

WHAT? LIVERPOOL WON A GAME? WHAT ??????????????????
