A stunner from Gareth Bale and two howlers from Loris Karius saw Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1 in a dramatic Champions League final in Kiev.

Liverpool started brightly, pressing the holders high up the pitch.

Teenager Trent Alexander-Arnold tested Keylor Navas in the Madrid goal on 23 minutes as the Reds pushed for the opener.

However, on the half-hour mark, the Merseysiders would lose their talisman Mo Salah to a shoulder injury, after the Egyptian had clashed with shithousing specialist Sergio Ramos.

Salah, no doubt also concerned about his World Cup prospects, would leave the pitch in tears.

Real full-back Dani Carvajal would also be forced off by injury, but the Spaniards finished the half the stronger side, with Karim Benzema having a goal chalked off for offside.

Soon after the re-start, Isco hit the bar when he really should have scored.

However, Real would take then lead in bizarre fashion, with ‘keeper Karius seeing his utterly misjudged throw-out blocked by Benzema, with the ball rebounding into the back of the Liverpool net.

However, Liverpool would hit back quickly, with Sadio Mané scoring on 55 minutes after a corner.

Soon after, Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane  replaced Isco with Gareth Bale and after just two minutes and two seconds of action, the Welshman would score an utterly magnificent overhead kick from a Marcelo centre.

Both sides then had chances to score, with the Reds coming close to leveling the scores, only for Mané to see his effort come back off the post.

Real would eventually seal their 13th European Cup/Champions League title courtesy of a second howler from Karius, this time after the German made a right mess of a perfunctory long-range effort from Bale.

There was still time for a pitch invader to stop the action just as Cristiano Ronaldo was about to pull the trigger.

However, the contest would end in a 3-1 win for the La Liga giants, who become the first side to win Europe’s top club competition for three consecutive seasons since Bayern Munich in the mid-seventies.

All in all, it was a thoroughly disappointing and somewhat bizarre end to Liverpool’s fantastic Euro-odyssey.

Let’s hope Karius, who was understandably tearful after the final whistle, can get over his nightmare evening and Salah can get himself fit for the World Cup next month.

Yeah, I don’t know why Ramos (or any other RM’er) had to be all dramatic when LP were happy to give them two goals…..

(For the record, in the replay, Salah can be clearly seen grabbing hold of Ramos’ arm…hope he’s OK in the end).

Shit, I predicted 3×0 for Real!

They have done it before. Los Blancos have long experience in laying their hands on big trophies. Congratulations to champions RM.
