Eden Hazard inspired his Chelsea side to a 2-1 comeback win over Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday, with the sub scoring a tremendous winner to fire the Blues into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

Despite resting a number of star names, both Jurgen Klopp and Maurizio Sarri still fielded strong first 11s in this heavyweight clash on Merseyside.

The visitors started well and almost broke the deadlock in the first-half, with Alvaro Morata going close on a couple of occasions.

However, it was Liverpool who would take the lead just before the hour-mark, with Daniel Sturridge producing an acrobatic finish after Willy Caballero had saved from Naby Keita.

Sturridge had somehow missed an open-goal before his goal, and the striker and his team-mates would rue that miss as Chelsea eventually fought back.

Full-back Emerson put the west Londoners level on 79 minutes from close-range, with the goal standing despite a VAR check for offside.

Hazard has come off the bench early in the second-half, replacing Willian. However it took until the 85th minute for the in-form Belgian to burst into life with a wonderful solo effort.

The winger skinned Alberto Moreno before unleashing a sweetly struck effort which arrowed into the far corner of the Liverpool net.

Hazard’s slaloming solo slinker would ultimately win the game for Chelsea, who move into the next round.

As for Liverpool, they can get revenge for the defeat at the weekend, with the two giants meeting again (again!) in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
