The clear front runner amongst the nominations for the ‘Seriously?…Are You F*cking Kidding Me?’™ awards – Albert Riera – has slammed the Liverpool board for not defending him following his criticism of manager Rafa Benitez.

The winger hasn’t featured for the Anfield side since he aired his ill-advised disapproval of Benitez’ oft-suspect style of management on a Spanish radio station in March.

Riera has since accepted that his Liverpool career is dead in the water but speaking to The Daily Mirror, the 28-year-old revealed that he also believes that the suits in the Anfield boardroom didn’t do enough to back him following his public discretion;

“I want to leave, English clubs are run differently to Spanish clubs. In England you have a manager at the club and the board of the club has done nothing for me. The club has not fought for me.

I do not want to quarrel, but if a club doesn’t fight for you, that means they don’t want you. I do not want to be in a place where I am not wanted.”

Ta-ra then chuck!
