Liverpool Confirm Manager Rafa Benitez Has Left The Club

By Chris Wright

Liverpool have released a statement via their official website to announce that manager Rafael Benitez has officially left the club by mutual consent.

The statement reads;

“Mr Benitez relinquishes his position as team manager after six years and the Board of Directors would like to place on record their grateful thanks for his services and wish him all the best in his future career.

The Board has now asked Managing Director Christian Purslow, with the assistance of Club Ambassador Kenny Dalglish, to begin a formal search to identify and assess potential candidates for the managerial position.

No timescale has been placed on the process and Liverpool FC will make no further statement until a new manager is appointed.”

Liverpool Chairman Martin Broughton added;

“Rafa will forever be part of Liverpool folklore after bringing home the Champions League following the epic final in Istanbul but after a disappointing season both parties felt a fresh start would be best for all concerned.”

And lastly, Benitez himself has said;

“It is very sad for me to announce that I will no longer be manager of Liverpool FC. I would like to thank all of the staff and players for their efforts.

I’ll always keep in my heart the good times I’ve had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager.

Thank you so much once more and always remember: You’ll never walk alone.”

    Now that Rafa has left, the yanks have full transfer control.
    Without him all Spanish players would probably leave maybe except Reina.
    Gerrard will be sold to Madrid and it will be a disaster.
    Even after these transfers, we will still have no funds bcuz all of it will go into clearing the debt and then they’ll sell us to some stupid buyers. Also no good manager would want to jump into our situation.

    The yanks don’t care abt Liverpool or football for that matter, they just want BLOODY FICKING MONEY!!!

    It was the goatee that did him in. I will never believe otherwise.

  6. Philando Torres says:

    Mourinho’s at Real, Hiddink will no doubt take the helm at New Caledonia or Papa New Guinea and steer them to the World Cup finals and any other top manager is out of our price range it looks like there’s only one choice – Joe Kinnear.

    i doubt the yanks have much say over transfers at this point. if anything gerrard is more likely to stay now given he clearly had come to hate playing under rafa.

    there’s no need for doomsday predictions, this is good news. now let’s hope they hire someone with some imagination and some balls, so they don’t play counter-attack even when at home to stoke.
