Fernando Torres Ruptured Thigh Muscle In World Cup Final, May Miss Start Of Premier League Season

By Ollie Irish

Crap news for new Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson: Spain’s Football Federation has revealed Fernando Torres has ruptured a muscle in his left thigh, during Sunday’s World Cup final.

Thinking more about it, the injury means Torres will almost certainly stay at Liverpool for one more year at least. So, there is a small silver lining for Kopites.

A statement on the SFF’s website confirmed Torres had an MRI scan at the Cemtro de Madrid Clinic and evidence was found of “A Grade 1 muscle fibre rupture in the left thigh”.

The Cadena Ser news network confirmed on Wednesday the scan results would be sent to Liverpool and it was unlikely Torres would play before the new Premier League season starts in August.
