THE Europa League balls came out in this completely random order:

Group A: Juventus, Man City, Salzburg, Lech Posnan

Group B: Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Rosenborg, Thessaloniki

Group C: Sporting, Lille, Levski Sofia, Gent

Group D: Villarreal, Club Brugge, Dinamo Zagreb, PAOK

Group E: AZ Alkmaar, Dynamo Kiev, BATE Borisov, FC Sheriff

Group F: CSKA Moscow, Palermo, Sparta Prague, Lausanne-Sport

Group G: Zenit St Peterburg, Anderlecht, AEK Athens, Hadjuk Split

Group H: VfB Stuttgart, Getafe, Odense BK, Young Boys

Group I: PSV Eindhoven, Sampdoria, FC Metalist Kharkiv, Debreceni

Group J: Sevilla, Paris St Germain, Borussia Dortmund, Karpaty Lviv

Group K: Liverpool, Steaua Bucharest, Napoli, FC Utretcht

Group L: FC Porto, Besiktas, CSKA Sofia, Rapid Vienna

Phew, that’s a hell of a lot of football right there. Group L!? Twelve groups! Ridiculous really.

First thoughts? FC Sherriff have a brilliant name, Napoli vs Liverpool will produce an AMAZING atmosphere (as will Besiktas vs Rapid Vienna), and Man City will win the whole thing. Tough group for Liverpool, mind.

Your thoughts?

Liverpool’s group is not that tough, steaua bucharest plays like shit these days, last night they were really really lucky to go trough. last year they had a coach for every month of the year, all the good players they had were sold, all the players they want to buy will not be albe to play in europa league becouse they’re from unirea urziceni and they also played quilifying rounds. nopoli is something though.

I agree that Citeh will win it. Probably beating a German team in the final.

As for Liverpool’s group – not much travelling, few potential banana skins and other such cliches. The sheer number of games just seems tedious and unnecessary though. And Sunday/Monday games started to wear thin years ago.

CSKA Sofia have a chance albeit a very slim one.

bad start to the season but they’ll pull it up
    or maybe juventus

  7. Dag says:

Do they still grant Euro-cup places based on fair-play from previous seasons? If so, which federations have got it this year?
