Video of Xabi Alonso’s wonder goal from inside his own half against Newcastle… not the first time he’s done this

Wowza, what a goal – it was made easier thanks to Steve Harper slipping up in the Newcastle goal, but still, what vision from the overrated (cough) Alonso. And it’s not the first time the Spaniard has scored from inside his own half. Enjoy…

  1. Brian says:

You’re an idiot. Xabi is arguably the best passer in the game today.

  2. Ollie, Pies Ed. says:

Thanks for your constructive criticism Brian – have you considered a career in punditry?

  3. Anthony says:

I think you have to watch Xabi a lot to see how good he is.
You have to remember that a lot of the time he plays the mopping up role and is restricted to what he’s allowed to do.
When he gets the chance he can absolutey dominate a game for midfield. A game against Fulhame comes to mind when we went in 2-0 down at half time. He was brought off the subs bench, took control of the whole match and we won 4-2.
He can blow hot and cold, but on his day he’s awesome, plus at only 25 his peak years are ahead of him.
Though to be fair he has struggled to find his form since coming back from the World Cup.
    Think he’s go it now…
