In Pictures: Napoli 0-0 Liverpool – Awful Match, Decent Result For Reds
By Ollie Irish
An awful match to watch, but for a youngish, almost second-string Liverpool side that was without Messrs Torres and Gerrard, this has to be a good point. Whilst David Ngog and Ryan Babel proved again that they are not good enough, Kopites will have been encouraged by the dynamic performance of Jonjo Shelvey and, to a lesser extent, Jay Spearing. I though Martin Skrtel had a solid game too.
Not that Liverpool’s opponents played well; for a side that lies fourth in Serie A, Napoli were shockingly lethargic for long spells in the game.
There were rumours that Roy Hodgson would quit after the game, but he has since announced that he is going nowhere.
“Resignation has never once entered my thoughts and never will. I’m here for the long haul,” Hodgson said after the match.
“I came here believing I can help Liverpool rebuild. The players are behind everything we’re doing.”
The players, maybe. The fans, not so much.

who is this prick that writes all this shit! n’gog and babel are good enough, they fust need a bit more confidence… specially babel who has been drained of confidence by rafa, and now has been told by roy hodgson is not part of his plans….play him in his proper position and you will see ryan babel should play on the RIGHT wing or along side torres…
think about it… babel has got pace, strenght, can score goals, he’s big aswell, and he’s got a fierce shot on him
he hasnt got confidence because these shit managers have drained it out of him

If they concentrate on developing Jay Spearing he should be ready to step into Gerrard’s shoes once he retires. He hasn’t got Gerrard’s attacking mentality at the moment but he might grow into that.
@Mr.Angry – I totally agree with you
