Photos: Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool, League Cup (Aquilani looks good in black)

Fran Merida did this, then Emiliano Insua did this, then Nicklas Bendtner did this – three fine goals to grace a very enjoyable fourth-round League Cup tie.

But there can be only one, and Arsenal had too much quality for the visitors. Still, it was a terrific advert for the merits of the Premier League, and I thought Alberto Aquilani, who came on in the 76th minute, looked like the sort of player who can change a game, perhaps more so even than Xabi Alonso.

  1. Philando Torres says:

As Rafa said – we lost playing well. Fantastic goal from Insua n’all.

But on a sour note, I can now confirm without a doubt that Voronin is the worst player to ever play for Liverpool. And considering Salif Diao and Djimi Traore have played for Liverpool that is quite a frightening accolade for Voronin.

Maybe that could be a later post Ollie – ask people who is the worst player to ever play for their club? It’s just about negative and cynical enough for the internet.

    Insua’s goal was a blinder…
