Stoke City 1-0 Liverpool – Premier League – September 10 2011

Liverpool’s impressive start to the season came undone at the Britannia stadium, courtesy of a spot-kick from Republic of Ireland international Jonathan Walters. However, King Kenny was left fuming over both the decision by referee Mark Clattenburg to award the first penalty and his decision not to give one to Liverpool after Matthew “Matty” Upson handballed in his own box. The ever baseball capped Tony Pulis started with beanpole hitman Peter “Crouchy” Crouch, and can now look forward to taking his brand of “passionate” football to the Europa League proper on Thursday.

Another tired jibe at Tony Pulis again I see. Pathetic. Give the man the respect he deserves.

What respect is that? If the penalty decision on the handball went against him, Pulis would be screaming bloody murder. Pulis and his tactics redefine banality. I suppose it gets results (opposing player’s tibias snapped, draws in tight games they should have lost, etc.), but he’s never gracious when he’s on the losing end. Hence the lack of respect and jibes whenever possible…

A British manager who has led his club from the middle of the Championship to become an established Premier League team in the space of six years, who has reached an FA Cup Final and is now leading his team into Europe does deserve respect, not the kind of sneering displayed in the caption underneath his photo. Grow up.

“Liverpool’s impressive start to the season” , a home win against Bolton a home draw against Sunderland and an away win over a very poor Arsenal , oh yeah and Exeter , hardly impressive , satisfactory yes , impressive defintely not . Impressive starts , the two Manc sides , 4 from 4 , before Saturday 2 from 3 and unbeaten satisfactory .
On the penalty issues Delap – yes (how wasnt it given ) , Carragher – yes (putting your arm around someones waist and pulling them away from the ball) , Upson – no ( sliding along where are you meant to put your arm ? Under you ?).

Impressive start by comparison to last year, you twit.
