Manchester City 3-0 Watford – FA Cup – 5th January 2013
Manchester City eased their way past Gianfranco Zola’s Watford on Saturday courtesy of a comfortable 3-0 win.
Keen to put all that midweek training ground palavar behind him, Roberto Mancini picked a strong side to face the Hornets, who themselves were shorn of a number of key players.
Not surprisingly, it was the Citizens who dominated the first period, with Carlos Tevez (from a fine free-kick) and Gareth Barry putting the home side 2-0 up at the break.
In the second-half, Watford continued to be bombarded by the City attack and eventually a third goal came, courtesy of teenager Marcos ‘Rony’ Lopes.
A stroll in the park for City while Watford’s Anglo-Italian side can now focus on the chase for a play-off place in the Championship.
