Glenn Whelan’s dreadful challenge on Man City’s Javi Garcia unquestionably warranted a red card, yet big Howard Webb, who was well positioned to view the incident, didn’t even blow for a foul. Strange.
A right shocking challenge…

poor english refs
going for the ball if you ask me. Always looks bad slowed down. Unfortunate tackle
Looks like he’s going for the ball, but I can’t see any reason to jump at the ball like that.
Classic Stoke.
It doesn’t matter whether he’s going for the ball or not it’s still a dangerous tackle and he should have been shown a red card.
It doesn’t matter he goes for the ball. Shawcross also went for the ball against Ramsey. It’s a dangerous challenge and he only gets the player. Red card, no doubt (Kompany got a red for a similar challenge and he DID get the ball).
No way in hell he’s going for the ball like that, that’s not even a sliding tackle. It’s a two-footed standing tackle. If he would’ve had the ball like that, he would have stamped on it and fell on his arse.
I guess kicking people is considered ok now after what Hazard did.
Pretty much sums Stoke up. That makes three dirty bastards in Whelan, Shawcross and Huth.
Tony Pulis would be moaning his tits off it had happened to one of his own, he must have selective vision.
Javi Garcia clearly should not be putting his legs under Whelan. Garcia should have got a tick off for this.
Essien did this two seasons ago, got the ball and was still shown a red. This is the exact same challenge. Just poor ref decision, simple.
