Manchester City 1-0 West Bromwich Albion – Premier League – 7th May 2013
Last season’s Premier League champs Man City were already pretty much assured of a place in next season’s Champions League anyway, but against West Brom on Monday night, Roberto Mancini’s men rubber-stamped their Big Cup berth.
Edin Dzeko was the goal-hero for the home side, firing home on 35 minutes to secure the win. The Baggies had started brightly but couldn’t find a way past Joe Hart, with Romelu Lukaku going close on a number of occasions.
The Citizens did create enough chances to win the game by more but ultimately they were happy to settle for the victory.
City are now seven points clear of Chelsea (who have a game in hand) while Steve Clarke’s West Brom stay eighth.
