Snapshot: Roberto Mancini Pays For Full-Page Advert In Manchester Evening News To Thank Man City Fans…

By Chris Wright

Nice touch from Bobby Mancini in this morning’s Manchester Evening News, in which the former Man City boss took out a full-page advert in the sport section of the paper to thank the City fans for their three-and-a-smidge years of support…

Apparently, according to Telegraph scribe Henry Winter, many City fans are now contemplating pitching in to take out a similar advert in the Gazzetta Dello Sport to reciprocate the love and wish their newly-departed manager all the best in the future.

How lovely!

i think the fans should do the same for him he was an amazing manager and the only one who could get the job done. and we love him for that

….hunkered down over his computer, feverishly creating and resizing the image in GIMP 2.8.0…….making sure the fonts and colours are correct……entering his credit card information for the ad placement with tears streaming down his cheeks……

@Fat Nakego – in fairness, it does not include any official Manchester City branding, so it does appear that he has at least commissioned, if not designed, it himself. It is a nice sentiment.

Class, best to him wherever he ends up!

I thought it was quite a classy thing to do. his sacking was pretty stupid, man city could have been the more stable club next season, with chelsea, united and everton all with new managers. it might have given them a good chance at the title but alas no. see-ya mancini

    @FatNakago brilliant Lol
It seems to me like Moancini is just trying to blow his horn saying “Look what I gave this club in my 3 year stay.” Never mind the fact that he was given more or less £5 billion to win those trophies (one on goal difference and that the Community Shield doesn’t really count) Good bye and good riddance I say!

  8. Anabelle says:

Ciao Roberto. We’ll never forget you. Grazie mile.

  9. MJ says:

could we please leave out the sarcasm for once? who cares whether he tries to remember everyone of what he won? as a city supporter this must be absolutely lovely to see drinking your morning tea. i’m a united supporter but i still find this a great gesture.

Seriously you’re ripping on the guy? You’ve won 3 trophies in 3 years after spells of absolute shite. A lot of us would kill for even a League Cup. Doesn’t matter how much money he had, he brought you something you’ll remember forever. I can only hope I can experience that some day. Unlikely as, well, you can tell who I have supported my whole life, but don’t take anything for granted I say.

As a United supporter this really left me with a positive feeling. Nice guy Roberto. Good to see that he had a nice relationship with the fans and had he not managed the abu dhabi bitters, i would have never said a bad word about him in my life. Best of luck Bobby!

in the words of pies about another class guy. “WHAT A DUDE”

  13. Moxey says:

I don’t care if it is good PR or anything like that. Any time a Manager/Player/Coach etc. does this sort of thing whether it’s a spread in a paper or a message on the website or any other form, then it’s a nice move and makes me wish it happened more often.

  14. Martin says:

Mourinho won the equivalent trophies in the same amount of time. His team spent loads on players as well. I don’t think many people would issue the same criticism of him.
