Apropos of nothing in particular, here’s a cracking little GIF from the stats-obsessed chaps over at Squawka which details all 130 of Xavi’s passes (with a completion rate of 96%, by the way!) against Manchester City in the Champions League last night in five-minute intervals…

  1. Xavi is a magician with a ball at his feet! 125 passes completed out of 130 attempted is unreal!! Is there any better passer in the modern game now Paul Scholes has retired?

  2. matjes says:

Well, you may want to give a certain Toni Kroos character a closer look then, attempting 152 passes on the night and quite handily completing 147 of them (96.7%, that is), 127 of which came in Arse’nals half.

  3. Hootie says:

@Sam – No offense to Scholes, but was Scholes ever really on Xavi’s level?

  4. drags says:

Well look at Toni Kroos vs arsenal last night. Attempted 152 passes, of which 127 were in arsenal’s half, completion rate of 96,7%. Quality!

  5. Russki says:

@Hootie I’ve been a massive Xavi fan for years but to suggest there’s a distance in class between him and Scholes is perhaps a little naive!

  6. Golly says:

@drags and @matjes – it’s a lot easier when the other team has a man down. But props to Kroos anyway, considering the absolute peach he scored.
