Barcelona 2-1 Manchester City (Agg 4-1) – Champions League Last 16 2nd Leg – 12th March 2014

Soccer - UEFA Champions League - Round of 16 - Second Leg - Barcelona v Manchester City - Nou Camp

As with Arsenal last night against Bayern, a red-card induced 2-0 defeat in the first leg proved fatal for Manchester City, who failed to claw back the gap against Barcelona on Wednesday night.

The hosts opened the scoring on the night courtesy of Lionel Messi who netted on 67 minutes after an error from Joleon Lescott. Vincent Kompany did get one back at the death (after Pablo Zabaleta had seen red) only for Dani Alves to make it 2-1 just before the final whistle. A well-deserved win for the Spaniards which was all but sealed in the first leg.

Will Mourinho capitulate next week against Galatasaray to ensure a full-strength side capable of holding a City team without cup commitments at bay?

Wouldn’t put it past him. City have got much more quality on the bench than Chelsea. A tiring Champions League run could totally fuck up Jose’s thinly-veiled plan to grab the PL on his 1st season back.

Not that I care for either team. As a United supporter who also happens to be a fan of decent, entertaining football I hope Liverpool quietly carry on and grab the PL from under both of them.

Chelsea will win the Premier League as they have no significant matches left. If they can beat all the lower table sides that is.
Champions League is hard to tell who is in better form but Bayern Munich looks the stronger, followed by Real Madrid, Atletico, Barcelona, Chelsea, Dortmond.

No real United fan would ever hope that Liverpool win the title, or vice versa. That being said, Chelsea are taking the Prem this year :)

So much for the weakest barca team in years, citeh should have read the team sheet after they heard that

    ha, City deserved to lose.

  6. Jarren says:

@fcrs91: So what would a “real” United fan prefer? City to win? Chelsea?

Or just call the season null & void and wait until August 2014?
