Leicester City 0-0 Manchester City – Premier League – 29th December 2015

Leicester City missed out on the chance to finish off a fine 2015 top of the table after playing out an entertaining, if goalless, clash with fellow title-chasers Manchester City on Tuesday evening.

Striker Jamie Vardy missed a great chance to put the Foxes ahead in the first-half as the hosts threatened the City defence with their trademark counter-attacking play. Sergio Aguero one again struggled to find his best form after a succession of injuries and was eventually replaced by Wilfried Bony on 64 minutes.

N’Golo Kante once again shone in midfield for Claudio Ranieri’s side who, for periods in the game, were forced to defend for their lives as the visitors pushed for a goal, with Raheem Sterling always a threat. However, in the end the game would end goalless, a result which sees the Foxes level on points with league leaders Arsenal, but one spot behind courtesy of an inferior goal difference.

While Ranieri will be delighted with another vibrant display from his side, despite just the one point to show for it, Manuel Pellegrini will no doubt be concerned by his side’s continuing struggles up front on the road.
