The new season of the Women’s Super League kicks off on Wednesday evening, with the competition ready to build on a superb 2015 which saw England’s third-place finish at the World Cup give the game a massive boost.

One of the stars of that successful campaign in Canada last summer, Steph Houghton, wore a microphone for the entirety of Manchester City’s pre-season friendly with Swedish side Pitea IF last month. The results are rather intriguing, as we very rarely get this kind of insight into a player’s performance on the pitch.

“Ref, Howay Man!!!”….

City will once again be one of the favourites for the 2016 WSL title, although they’ll face tough competition from the likes of champions Chelsea and a revamped Arsenal side among others.
