The FA have confirmed that Bacary Sagna has been fined for an Instagram post he published in the wake of Man City’s recent Premier League victory over Burnley.

Despite the game winning 2-1, Sagna took umbrage at the performance of referee Lee Mason, who sent Fernandinho off after just half an hour for a lunging challenge on Johan Gudmundsson…

After the match, Sagna posted a photo of City celebrating their winning goal, along with the caption: “10 against 12 but still fighting and winning as a team.”

The French full-back quickly deleted the post but was immediately charged with misconduct by The FA, who have today stung him to the tune of £40,000 for “questioning the integrity of the match official.”

Sagna has also been warned about his future conduct.
