Gareth Barry Out Of 2010 World Cup With Ankle Injury
By Ollie Irish

The Mirror claims that Gareth Barry’s ankle injury (ligament damage to his right ankle), which the midfielder suffered against Tottenham on Wednesday evening, is serious enough to prevent him going to the World Cup. If true, this is terrible news for the player – he’s a big favourite of Fabio Capello – but, let’s be honest, it’s not the end of England’s WC hopes; midfield is an area of the pitch where we have decent strength in depth. Barry is not Rooney – that would be a disaster.
Possible replacements for Barry? Tom Huddlestone fits the bill perfectly.

I love Tom Huddlestone but it HAS to be James Milner. Even without injury Milner should be ahead of Barry.
Somehow people seem convinced that Barry is good enough, he really isn’t as good as other options. Milner is much better and up until Carrick had a shocker of a season, so was he (I fear he was so worried about getting injured for the World Cup that he cruised the season.)
Milner’s going anyway; Capello likes his ability to play midfield, winger and even fullback, but this injury might give Milner the chance to play even more.
I so hope this is true. Ive never seen a slower, negative player play for England. He is useless. Same with Carrick, this season anyway. Get Paul Scholes out of retirement!
kevin nolan anyone?
Thats the funniest thing ive head all day, Kevin Nolan? Brilliant
Milner will go to the World Cup easily. Barry plays as the DM for England… I think… so I’d like to see Huddleston replace him there.
