Manchester City needed a last-gasp Raheem Sterling goal to secure a hard-fought 2-1 home win against Southampton, a victory which extends their incredible winning streak to 12 Premier League games.

However, at the final whistle, City boss Pep Guardiola decided to confront Nathan Redmond with what looked like a very angry tirade against the Saints winger.

After the game, Guardiola did his best to explain his strange behaviour, claiming he was complimenting Redmond but admitting his frustration at what he perceived as Southampton’s negative tactics. The Spaniard said:

I was telling Nathan Redmond how good he is at the end.

Southampton have some super talented players, Redmond is so good one against one. But they didn’t want to play, they were time wasting from the ninth minute. I just wanted them to play.

Pep, your team won with a dramatic late winner and you’re walking away with the league. Enjoy it, will ya!
