Proving that he is indeed a man of many talents, ESPN’s touchline poet Robbie Savage issues Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini with a cheeky ‘come and get me’ plea in Italiano before City’s FA Cup tie with Leicester…

…I could be wrong here, but did Lily just sign a pre-contract agreement with Man City?

    Savage is a clown.

  2. Chris says:

    A first-rate prickzilla.

  3. Markell says:

^^ Untrue, friend. Robbie Savage is brilliant! I hope he does sign with City.

  4. Chris says:

Who needs De Jong when you have Savage?

  5. edhehe says:

    nice united scarf Mancini!

  6. Markell says:

    You bloody fucking twit.

First off, red and black are City’s traditional away colors. City have been wearing red and black striped away kits for decades, and yesterday’s red and black do was a tribute to Neil Young, who scored the winner in Manchester City’s 1969 FA Cup final win. Neil is currently terminally ill, so City decided to show support for him by producing scarves in its retro colors for the Cup game.

Secondly, United’s colors are not red and black. Red and white are United’s colors. Maybe red, black and white, but never ever just red and black. Both teams draw the colors from the seal of the city of Manchester. United have never lined up in kits that were just red and black without any white. City have done so across the years. Find a picture of the 69 Cup Final, or even the 08/09 away kit. Red and black are City colors. If you knew your history, you would know that.

Nice City scarf, Roberto, and what a wonderful tribute to a legend from a club that, despite all the crap it catches from having a wealthy and concerned benefactor (which is not a crime), remains a classy institution.

Well said Markell, the instant jibes at mancini and dzeko for “united scarves” just exposes some of these fans as completely ignorant of football before Sky got involved

  8. Markell says:

90% of what you said was spot on, but just in the interest of bursting your bubble of self righteousness, I must correct the few errors you made.

While Man City’s traditional away colors are indeed red and black, they have nothing to do with the colors of the Seal of the City of Manchester. They were inspired by Milan. Malcolm Allison said that taking Milan’s colors might push City on to glory, and for a while it worked. City won the FA Cup, the Football League Cup, and the Cup Winners’ Cup in the first two seasons after adopting the black and red stripes.

As for Man United “never ever” lining up in just black and red, I guess the pic below is of Peter Pan. Funny I thought it was Patrice Evra. It’s a shame, too. I think it’s actually a pretty good look for United.

  9. Grant says:

And as usually happens when I do something like this, I make a blunder myself.

The above comment was from me, not Markell.

  10. Grant says:

Manchester City’s black and red have nothing to do with the City of Manchester. They were inspired by Milan. Malcolm Allison thought that adopting their colors as an away strip would give the team an edge, and they won 3 trophies in 2 years as a result.

Also, Man United do occasionally line up in just red and black, and it’s a good look for them if I do say so myself.

  11. Tyo says:

    Well said, Markell Grant!

  12. Markell says:

Well said, indeed, Mr. M Grant! However, I would like to just point out 2 things. Firstly, black and red are indeed colors in the coat of arms, not seal, of Manchester. Second, I would like to point out that the Liliputian Frenchman Patrice Evra is kitted out in black shorts and black socks only because of the fact that United are playing Portsmouth, who are wearing white shorts as well. If not for the opposition, I am sure they would be wearing their favored white shorts. Once again, though, well met!

@Markell bloody hell! what are you! on your man period! never thought one little comment could cause so much fuss! grow up! i dont even support united or city! so i dont care! …cant take a lil joke or banter!

  15. […] must happen, although I guess it means Sav’s big-money move to Man City is now dead in the water. […]
