OK, just a friendly – it was the annual Joan Gamper Trophy – but still a great result for City’s morale.
Looking at the line-ups/subs [@ Goal], you can see just how seriously Pep Guardiola and Sparky Hughes treated it:
FC Barcelona: Pinto, Montoya (Alves 45), Fontas (Henry 63), Puyol (Bartra 31) (Pique 63), Maxwell (Muniesa, 63), Touré (Tiago 45) Busquets ( Keita 45), Gudjohnsen (Jonathan, 45), Pedro (Messi 45), Bojan (Ibrahimovic 45) and Jeffren (Gai Assulin, 54).
Manchester City: Given, Onuoha, Kolo Touré (Ben-Haim 45), Dunne, Zabaleta (Garrido 65), Weiss, Ireland, Barry (Etuhu 70), Wright-Phillips (Trippier 80) , Petrov, Tevez (Bellamy 65).

can’t tell if you’re being serious or not. City started the majority of their first teamers, while Pep played mainly his subs and reserves. Barca still had 65% of the possession and 25 shots. this was a great game for them, and the goals will come as the rust wears off.
