Mario Balotelli Hauled Off After 30 Minutes Of LA Galaxy Friendly For ‘Failing To Take Game Seriously’ (Video)

The latest chapter in the continuing story of Bungaling Balo sees our compelling protagonist getting himself hauled off after just half-an-hour of Man City’s pre-season friendly against LA Galaxy when he intentionally spurned a chance/screwed up a Virgo trickshot – turning his back and backheeling the ball straight out for a goal-kick.

Bob Mancini was not amused, immediately substituting Balotelli for ‘failing to take the game seriously’…

I can think of several strikers that would have been perfectly happy with that effort, but that’s by the by.

I suppose we’d all be lit up if the shot (if it was a genuine botch) had actually gone in – it seems that you have to take the rough with the smooth impetuous arrogance as far as Mad Mario’s concerned.

In his defence; surely there’s a time and a place for a bit of showboatery, namely during ultimately meaningless pre-season friendlies?

and somewhere you can hear the faint whisper of zola’s laugh

  2. dragan says:

This guy should be loaned out to a league 3 side, maybe hell learn something there instead of being a spoilt little rich kid with a big ego. if only he wasnt a decent player people would hate him even more. Even city supporters surely dont like this guy?

  3. Chicharito says:

Haha, Mancini looks like a muppet chasing a spoilt kid down the touch line. No player at United would ever dare do that to Fergie and if he did he would be sold the day after. The city board, manager, players and fans have no class and they won’t ever be able to buy that!! No yor place!!

  4. C says:

What a complete, utter tool he is.

  5. :) says:

i love him! and i hate city. he’s exciting and a little bit stupid too. who cares! and dragan do you really think taking him to league 3 would help? he’d do more of this and his head would get even bigger with the amount of goals he’d score! :D hahaha

  6. :) says:

i believe the offside whistle went off too. not %100 on that though

  7. :) says:

he definitely heard the offside whistle. that what he says to mancini when he comes off the bench. so what he was just being silly, yeah it was a little show-offy-but he wasn’t wasting a genuine chance

  8. gamblino says:

What an entertainer! Totally agree with the last sentence.

  9. Colin says:

I’m sorry but football is a form of entertainment and, frankly, the game needs players/personalities like Balotelli. If that effort had gone in, fans would’ve left the stadium talking about the incredible tekkers they had just witnessed.

  10. Lorenzo says:

    He thought to be offside

  11. Monza says:

Here is a video of the incident taken from live broadcast: http://www.mlssoccer.com/videos?catid=114&id=17455

There is no offside whistle here. The youtube one includes the replay of the play with live sound on it so probably that whistle has nothing to do with this incident or an offside.

@chicharito , yes when peeps insult fergie , he gives into their demands

  13. Sultan says:

This guy is pure entertainment…on and off the field..gives me a good laugh whenever something pops up about him :) Thank you Mario for the good laugh on a boring Sunday !

  14. Montesquieu says:

It’s a friendly. Who cares, no one should take these damn things serious.

  15. Markell says:

@Chicharito, We’ll see how hard you’ll be laughing when we City finish abouve United this year-in 1st place. You talk about MCFC fans having no class-well who else would/will proudly follow their team through 35 years of trophyless football? And who acts like the 70’s 80’s and early 90’s never existed? Who acts like the Premier League was the beginning of football in England? And who else supported their team proudly through the longest silverware drought in English football? Never had our star player call us out for not getting behind the team and instead showing more intrest in prawn sandwiches…

As per Balotelli, jeez, the boy is infuriating… But, after all, it was a preseason friendly. Just having a bit of fun, mates…

Oooooh, Balotelli, he’s a striker, he’s good at darts… An allergy to grass, but when he plays he’s 4kin class, he drives around Moss Side with a wallet full of cash!!!

    35 YEARS AND WE’VE WON A CUP!!!

  17. Benji says:

Small club with a small mentality.

  18. Rob says:

If you get subbed for failing to take a game against an MLS team seriously then Beckham’s Galaxy career should be over.

  19. Socrates' Beard says:

    @Markell

City are LONG way away from winning the League. They are about to the level of Tottenham right now. Arsenal, Chelsea, and United are all better clubs than City. Once Mancini gets control of his squad and the players start acting like one unit, then City will start to be troublesome. I reckon Liverpool are going to be a force this season. They feel dangerous again. This season is going to be a good one, but I doubt City will break into the top 4.

  20. JR says:

Man listening to those espn guys babble on for 40 seconds was torturous.

I must say that if it had gone in, the entire internet would be ablaze with “best goal ever” youtube videos.

  21. Wazza says:

    @Markell: well…you’ve bought a cup!

  22. Patrick says:

For sure this was the time and place for backheels and whatnot. Overall, the game’s missing more of this. Sure they’re “professionals”, but professionals who are paid to A) entertain us and B) to play a child’s game.
