Manchester City 2-0 Everton – Premier League – September 24 2011

Substitutes Mario Balotelli and James Milner scored a goal each to earn the Citizens a home win against Everton. After the game, City boss Roberto Mancini praised his wayward Italian striker, saying:  “Mario didn’t start for three or four games but he has worked well, did not say anything and he was waiting for this moment. He scored an important goal and now it is important that he can continue.”

“Mario is a good guy. Sometimes his behaviour has been so-so but he’s a good guy. He likes Manchester City and he likes English football.”

Toffees’ boss David Moyes was unimpressed with musclebound referee Howard “hottie” Webb, saying: “I thought the crowd influenced the decisions. I thought the referee was taken by the crowd.”

Concerns that unused substitute Tevez had suffered a minor stroke were later put to rest
