Graeme Souness didn’t pull any punches when discussing Carlos Tevez on Sky last night. In a refreshing antidote to the usual boring, clichéd responses of UK TV pundits, the former Liverpool man labelled the Argentinian “a disgrace to football”.

Viewers of RTE television in Ireland will be used to this kind of no-holds-barred pundity. Souness has been a regular guest on the Irish station, vociferously debating issues in the game with iconic Irish pundits Johnny Giles and Eamonn Dunphy. Here they argue about Arsene Wenger.

We want more of this and less of the back-slapping blandness of Lineker, Lawrenson, Shearer and co.

Lolol at the end of the 2nd video….I know the whole respect your elders, but what do you do when that wiser man says ‘you don’t know what you’re talking about”

  2. Jazzo says:

Graeme Souness was the only one with the balls to just come out and say it how it is i couldnt believe it.

Tevez should be ashemed if I had it my way he would never play football again comming from a Arsenal fan.

  3. Conor O'Riordan says:

Just one more reason why I love being Irish. The punditry on RTE is infintely superior to that of BBC or even Sky. Giles, Liam Brady, Ronnie Whelan and new boy Richie Sadler know their stuff and speak their minds. Then we have Eamon Dunphy. The man is a living legend and a walking soap opera. Check out his views on Roy Keane’s departure from United back in ’05 on youtube or his views on Cristiano Ronaldo. Or Liverpool. Or BBC pundits. Or Michael Carrick. Comedy gold! And he usually has a point

    Hahaaa

    “have you managed?”
“no didn’t manage anywhere… managed to stay alive for 63 and a half years”

You don’t get much more irish than that… quality

  5. Montesquieu says:

I still can’t stand Graeme Souness. He makes a better pundit than he did manager and that’s not saying much.

  6. Stopping the BS says:

Sparky… saying he “wants to play” was the perfectly wrong statement to make at that moment. He should’ve ripped Mancini to shreds right there. Something along the lines of “I signed him and he was always happy under my charge” would’ve stuck it to Mancini, City, and Tevez.

As for Tevez, typical Argy trash. Sure, he’s got skills, but when he refuses to exhibit them, the skills are worthless.

  7. The PFJ says:

Lineker and co. are everything that is wrong with modern football coverage. The faux “we’re all mates having some banter” atmosphere and HORRENDOUS punning and style of delivery ruins MOTD for me every week. As Conor O’Riordan above says, RTE football coverage is the bets around. “I managed to stay alive for 63 and a half years baby” Genius.
