Wayne Rooney Laughs At Touré Brothers’ ACoN Failure On Twitter, Fails To See Irony Of It All

With the Zambian players and coaching staff still celebrating their surprise African Cup of Nations victory in a hugely dramatic penalty shoot-out in Libreville, Wayne Rooney decided to provide us all with a fine example of the unsporting, unpleasant and ungracious.
The United striker, no doubt in between polishing his massive collection of Euro and World Cup winner’s medals, was apparently delighted to see Yaya and Kolo Touré lose in the final. He Tweeted:
“zzzzzzzzzzz pga golf is on. Come on boys. Funny that 2 toures was there all the way and lost. Haha.”
It’s not as though Mr. Rooney has ever under-performed himself at a major finals in Africa, has he? Ahem.

You have a point about those in glass houses but as somebody who has never underperformed in a major tournament, I also found the spectacle quite funny. Mainly the fact that all these unheralded players put their penalties away perfectly only for the so-called big names to fuck it up. You could tell Kolo Toure was going to miss from his stupidly long run-up. Also seeing Gervinho in the centre circle shitting it knowing he was going to have to take a penalty sooner rather than later made me chuckle too.
